The Centre of Excellence in Electric Vehicle & Connected Vehicle successfully conducted a one-day workshop on “Recent Advancements of Power Converters for Electric Vehicles” on 03.01.2026, delivered by Dr. P. Muthukumar, Professor, SIMATS Engineering. The session offered valuable insights into modern EV power converters, advanced DC–DC and inverter topologies, wide-bandgap devices (SiC/GaN), and high-efficiency control strategies.


ONE DAY SEMINAR

The Department of Super Computing, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, successfully organized a One-Day Seminar on “Role of IoT in Building Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11)” on 03.01.2026.The session was delivered by Mr. B. R. Prasanth, NIELIT, Chennai, who provided practical insights into IoT-enabled smart infrastructure, energy efficiency, and sustainable urban development.The seminar enhanced participants’ understanding of real-world IoT applications aligned with SDG 11, encouraging innovation and sustainable technological practices.

The Department of Super Computing, in coordination with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell, successfully organized a One-Day Seminar on “21st Century Skills for Decent Work and Career Excellence (SDG 8)” on 03.01.2026.The seminar was delivered by Mr. G. Karthikeyan, NIELIT, Chennai, who highlighted essential 21st-century competencies including critical thinking, adaptability, digital literacy, and workplace ethics.The session effectively enhanced participants’ awareness of employability skills aligned with SDG 8, motivating students toward career readiness and sustainable professional growth.

The Department of Programming successfully organized a Guest Lecture on 29.12.2025, delivered by Mr. Raja, Deputy Controller of Patents and Designs, Indian Patent Office (IPO), Chennai. The session provided valuable insights into the fundamentals of patents, design registration, and intellectual property rights, highlighting their importance in innovation and research.The event enriched participants’ awareness of patent filing procedures and encouraged a strong culture of innovation and IP protection among faculty and students.

The session provided valuable insights into biomedical applications, industry practices, and the role of informatics in healthcare and bio-organic sectors. INDUSTRIAL VISIT

The Department of Quantum Communication organized an Industrial Visit to North Chennai Thermal Power Station, Chennai on 23.12.2025. The visit provided practical exposure to thermal power generation processes, plant safety protocols, and large-scale industrial operations. The experience enhanced students’ understanding of real-time power plant functioning, bridging theoretical knowledge with industrial practice.

The Department of Computational Data Science successfully organized a Guest Lecture on 19.12.2025 by Ts. Dr. J. Emerson Raja, Assistant Professor, Multimedia University, Malaysia.
The session provided valuable insights into emerging trends in data science, computational intelligence, and global academic–industry perspectives. The lecture enhanced students’ understanding of advanced data-driven technologies and encouraged international academic exposure and research-oriented learning.

The Department of Physics successfully organized a Guest Lecture on 22.12.2025 by Dr. Kaushik R, Founder, Oordhvam Ascending Yoga. The session focused on mind–body wellness, yoga-based practices, and their scientific relevance to mental and physical health. The lecture promoted holistic well-being among participants and emphasized the importance of balance, mindfulness, and healthy lifestyles in academic and professional life.

The Department of Language Dynamics organized an Industrial Visit to Arun Plasto Moulders (India) Pvt. Ltd., Sriperumbudur on 22.12.2025. The visit provided hands-on exposure to plastic moulding processes, CNC/industrial machinery, and real-time manufacturing workflows.The experience enhanced students’ understanding of industrial operations, quality control, and workplace communication, bridging theory with practice.

One Day Workshop

The One-Day Workshop “The Robotics & AI Connection – From Campus to Industry” was successfully conducted on 05.12.2025 at SIMATS Engineering. Ms. Archana, Chief Marketing Officer of MiBOT Ventures, delivered an insightful session bridging academic learning with real-world industry applications in robotics and AI. The workshop benefited students by enhancing their understanding of emerging technologies and career pathways.


One Day Workshop

The workshop on “Role of AI in Cyber Security” was successfully conducted on 05.12.2025 at SHIELD Lab, SIMATS Engineering. Dr. T. P. Anithaashri delivered an insightful session highlighting how AI enhances cyber-defense mechanisms. The event provided participants with valuable knowledge on modern security challenges and AI-driven solutions.


One Day Workshop

The One-Day Guest Lecture on “Quality Education: Build Yourself, Not Just Your Degree” was conducted on 04.12.2025 at SIMATS Engineering. Ms. Kunapriya Palanisamy from Tech Mahindra inspired students with practical insights on becoming skilled engineers within four years. The session motivated participants to focus on holistic development and industry-ready competencies.


The guest lecture on “Industry Relevance of CCNA in Today’s Networking World” was successfully conducted on 05.12.2025 at SCAD Seminar Hall, SIMATS Engineering. Mr. AravindraJ G shared valuable insights on current networking trends and the importance of CCNA certification for career growth. The session enhanced students’ understanding of industry demands and professional opportunities in networking.


The one-day guest lecture on “The AI Advantage: How AI Drives Scientific Breakthroughs in Health and Technology” was held on 29.11.2025 at SIMATS Engineering. Professor Momna Hejmadi from the University of Bath delivered an inspiring session on the transformative role of AI in modern scientific research. The lecture enriched participants with global insights into AI-driven innovations across health and technology sectors.


INDUSTRIAL VISIT

The Department of Manufacturing organized an industrial visit to Grundfos Pumps India, Chennai, on September 15, 2025, where 35 students gained hands-on experience in manufacturing, testing, coating, and green building concepts. The Google Developer Student Club (GDSC) empowers students with practical Google tech skills, fosters leadership, innovation, and career growth through hands-on learning and mentorship.


INDUSTRIAL VISIT

On behalf of the Departments of Signal & Image Processing and Nano Electronics Materials and Sensors, we sincerely thank SIMATS Management—our Director Madam, Principal Sir, and Vice Principal Sir—for their support in facilitating the industrial visit to Sathiyam Television, Chennai, on September 16, 2025. Thirty-one students and two faculty members gained valuable exposure to digital broadcasting, studio operations, signal processing, and production workflows, enhancing their technical skills and industry readiness.


INDUSTRIAL VISIT

The Department of Smart Construction Engineering & SCAD organized an industrial visit to SIMATS Mall construction on September 17, 2025, where 55 students and 3 faculty members gained practical experience in modern construction techniques, foundation methods, and site operations.

On behalf of the Department of Nanocomputing, we sincerely thank SIMATS Management—our Director, Principal, and Vice Principal—for their support in organizing the industrial visit to AAVIN Dairy Production Plant, Madhavaram, on September 17, 2025. Twenty-three students and four faculty members gained valuable insights into dairy production, processing, and quality assurance, bridging classroom theory with real-world industry experience and enhancing their professional readiness.


INDUSTRIAL VISIT

The Department of Big Data and Network Security sincerely thanks SIMATS Engineering Management for supporting the industrial visit to Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers Federation Ltd. on September 18, 2025. Seventy-five students and two faculty members gained valuable insights into dairy operations, quality assurance, and supply chain management, linking classroom learning with real-world industry experience.

The Department of Electrical Power and Drives Engineering held an IIC event on September 18, 2025, at SIMATS Engineering Auditorium, Thandalam. The theme was "Brainstorming and Ideation Techniques to convert ordinary ideas into extraordinary startups." Dr. A. Pradeep, Associate Professor and Innovation Ambassador, explained entrepreneurship and institute support for aspiring entrepreneurs. The event saw participation from 90 students and 5 faculty members.

Participants gained insights into battery architectures, smart powertrains, system integration, and balancing performance with sustainability in EV design.


Guest Lecture

The Department of Placement, SIMATS Engineering, organized a seminar on “From Engineer to Leader: Building Skills Beyond the Classroom” on 08 September 2025. Mr. Vishal Khedkar, Founder of Skill Enhancement Academy and Leadership Coach to Fortune 500 MNCs, delivered an inspiring session highlighting the importance of leadership, communication, adaptability, empathy, and interpersonal skills for engineers.

The event saw enthusiastic student participation through discussions and questions.


Guest Lecture

The Department of Cloud Computing, Institute of CSE-SSE, organized a Seminar on “Recent Trends in Cyber Crime” at our campus. Dr. S. Prabakaran, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cyber Crime Wing, Chennai, delivered an insightful talk followed by an engaging interactive session.

Around 81 students participated enthusiastically and gained valuable knowledge.


Guest Lecture

The Department of Placement, SIMATS Engineering, conducted a seminar on “Personal Grooming to Develop Personality” on 30th August 2025. The session was led by Mr. R. Soundar, Director of Finance Practice at Mindsprint (OLAM), who shared valuable insights on self-confidence, professional etiquette, and communication skills, drawing from his vast national and international experience.

The seminar saw enthusiastic student participation and proved highly motivational, guiding students on employability and professional growth.

Awareness & Action Toward Anti-Ragging” – The Department of Cognitive Computing, SIMATS Engineering, organized a guest lecture on “Awareness and Action Toward Anti-Ragging” on 25th August 2025 at the Circular Building, Fifth Floor.

We were honored to have Thiru I. Govindharajan, Sub-Inspector of Police (Retd.), Kasimedu Police Station, Chennai, as the resource person. The session emphasized the importance of creating a safe and ragging-free campus, empowering students to pursue their academic journey with confidence and security. The lecture was well received by participants and reinforced our collective commitment to maintaining a respectful and supportive learning environment.


One-Day Seminar

The Department of Mathematical Studies organized a One-Day Seminar on “Planning Today for the Engineer You’ll Be Tomorrow” on 23rd August 2025 at the Rectangular Building.

The session was delivered by Ms. B. Sindhiya, Senior HR Executive, Hindujatech Limited, Chennai, who shared valuable strategies on planning and preparation for a successful engineering career.

The seminar witnessed the enthusiastic participation of our students and faculty members, making it an engaging and impactful experience.


Industrial Visit

The Department organized an enriching Industrial Visit to the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (Aavin), Madhavaram, on 25th August 2025. The visit saw the enthusiastic participation of approximately 48 students accompanied by 5 faculty members.

Students gained valuable, hands-on insights into the Pasteurisation process, observing critical stages such as boiler operations, milk silos, cooling systems, and packaging lines. Interactions with plant engineers further enhanced their understanding of operational procedures, safety protocols, and environmental controls.
